What this addresses
Vaginal HIFU is commonly chosen for changes that follow childbirth, hormonal transition, or natural collagen loss with age:
- Mild to moderate vaginal laxity — sensation of looseness, particularly post-vaginal-delivery
- Mild stress urinary leakage with coughing, laughter, or exercise (as an adjunct, not a replacement, for severe SUI)
- Vaginal atrophy symptoms in perimenopausal and post-menopausal patients — dryness, mild discomfort during intimacy
- Decreased sensation related to laxity rather than nerve injury
It is not a treatment for severe pelvic organ prolapse, severe stress incontinence requiring surgical correction, active vaginal infection, or pregnancy.
How it works
The Reju-V probe delivers focused ultrasound energy to precisely targeted depths in the vaginal mucosa and underlying submucosal tissue — typically 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm. The acoustic energy creates microscopic thermal coagulation points without breaking the surface of the mucosa. The body's response is a localized inflammatory cascade that triggers new type I and type III collagen and elastin formation over the following 8–12 weeks.
The result is a gradual firming and "tightening" sensation that develops over 6–8 weeks and continues to improve for 3–4 months. Because the mucosal surface is untouched, there is no broken seal, no risk of infection from the procedure itself, and no downtime.
HIFU produces moderate, gradual tightening — not dramatic surgical-level change. Results take weeks to appear and continue to develop over months. Patients with severe laxity from significant tissue loss may benefit more from a surgical option; we'll tell you straight at the consultation whether HIFU is the right tool for your situation.
What the procedure feels like
Topical anesthetic is applied for 20 minutes before the procedure. With anesthetic, the sensation during HIFU is a series of brief, warm "ticks" — most patients rate the discomfort at 3–4/10, occasionally peaking briefly higher in more sensitive zones. We work in short passes and pause whenever you ask. The session itself takes 20–25 minutes of active treatment time.
Session-by-session recovery
Mild warmth and slight puffiness, fading within hours. Drive yourself home. Light dinner, normal evening. Cool compresses if needed (rarely).
Subtle tenderness on day 1, gone by day 3. Sexual activity: wait 48–72 hours for comfort. Exercise, swimming, sauna fine from day 3.
The window when collagen response becomes visible/palpable. Most patients (and partners) notice the change between week 4 and week 8, with peak effect around month 3.
Course and maintenance
Most patients see a meaningful response from a single well-executed session, with optional second pass at 6–12 weeks for additional effect. Stable results typically last 12–18 months, with annual maintenance sessions offered to extend benefit.
Safety
The published safety profile is excellent. The most common adverse effects are mild transient warmth, brief tenderness on direct touch, and occasional spotting in the 24 hours after treatment. Bruising is rare. We screen for active infection, pregnancy, severe pelvic floor dysfunction, and untreated dysplasia at the consultation — these are contraindications or reasons to defer.
Investment
₱2,000 per session, including topical anesthetic and post-session care. Most patients require only 1–2 sessions for the initial course; annual maintenance at the same per-session rate. Quote provided in writing at the consultation.
