How much does PEMF therapy cost in Manila? An honest breakdown

"PEMF" gets attached to everything from ₱1,000 device-only sessions to ₱300,000 home systems, and the numbers rarely come with context. Here's what PEMF therapy actually costs in Manila in 2026, why the price swings so much, and what you're really paying for.

The same label, "PEMF," is used for very different products at very different prices.

Short answer: a standalone PEMF session at a Manila clinic usually runs ₱2,000–₱5,000; general physiotherapy is ₱500–₱2,500. Home PEMF devices range from a few thousand pesos for consumer mats to ₱80,000+ for medical-grade systems. At Hummingbirds, PEMF isn't a separate charge — it's delivered with radial shockwave as one pain session at ₱2,500 per area, usually 3–6 sessions. The trap is comparing a bare device-only session with one that includes assessment and a real plan.

What PEMF costs in Manila, at a glance

The honest starting point is that "PEMF" isn't one product. It's a label attached to everything from a promotional mat session at a busy gym to a clinician-run pulsed system used as part of a pain protocol. Here's the realistic 2026 range across settings:

Where / whatTypical Manila price
Standalone PEMF session (clinic)₱2,000 – ₱5,000 per session
General physiotherapy session₱500 – ₱2,500 per session
Consumer PEMF mat (to buy)₱3,000 – ₱30,000
Medical-grade PEMF system, home (to buy)₱80,000 – ₱300,000+
Shockwave + PEMF at Hummingbirds₱2,500 per area / session (typically 3–6 sessions)

Ranges are indicative of advertised pricing across Metro Manila and vary widely. Always confirm per-session cost, what's included, and the likely number of sessions.

Why the price swings so much

Four things move the number, and understanding them is how you avoid overpaying — or underpaying for something that won't help.

The device. A low-field consumer mat and a clinical pulsed system are not the same tool. Consumer mats deliver much weaker fields and are often sold on wellness claims the evidence doesn't support. The stronger, targeted pulsed systems used in clinics cost more to run, which is part of what you're paying for.

Whether anyone assesses you. A device-only session — you lie on a mat, a timer runs, you leave — is cheap because there's no clinical input. A session that includes an actual assessment, a diagnosis of what's driving the pain, and a plan is a different service. The ₱1,000 mat session and the ₱2,500 clinician-run session are priced differently because they are different.

How many areas, how many sessions. PEMF for pain is usually a course, not a one-off, and pricing is often per area treated. A single-area problem over a short course costs far less than multi-area, longer treatment. Always ask what a full course is likely to total.

Standalone vs combined. Some clinics bill PEMF on its own; others fold it into a combined protocol. That changes what the per-session number actually represents.

Home PEMF devices — the cost, and the catch

Search "PEMF" online in the Philippines and you'll mostly find devices for sale: mats, pads and coils from a few thousand pesos up to six figures for medical-grade systems. The buy-it-once pitch is tempting, but two cautions apply. First, cheaper consumer mats deliver far weaker fields than clinical systems, so "PEMF" on the box doesn't guarantee a meaningful dose. Second — and more important — a device can't assess you. Most persistent pain has a mechanical or loading cause a mat won't touch, which is why buying hardware to fix a problem it was never built for is one of the more common ways people waste money here. If you're weighing a purchase, a single proper assessment first usually pays for itself.

What it costs at Hummingbirds — plainly

We don't bill PEMF as a separate line item. For musculoskeletal pain we use radial shockwave and PEMF together in one session at ₱2,500 per area, and a typical course is 3–6 sessions with assessment included. That means you're paying for a clinician-run, combined protocol — not a timer on a mat — and you'll get an honest total for the expected course at the consultation rather than an open-ended series. Our companion guide on what shockwave for pain costs in Manila breaks the same pricing down from the shockwave side, and the shockwave + PEMF service page explains how the two modalities work together.

How to compare fairly

Put every quote on the same footing before you judge it: per session, with the same inclusions, and against the realistic number of sessions to reach your goal. A ₱1,200 device-only session that needs eight visits can cost more than a ₱2,500 clinician-run session that needs four — and deliver less, because nobody diagnosed the actual problem. Ask three questions: is a clinician assessing me, what device is used, and what's the likely total for a full course?

What we charge — and what's included

Radial shockwave + PEMF for pain: ₱2,500 per area, per session, typically 3–6 sessions, assessment included and re-checked at around session three. No separate PEMF fee, and no package you're locked into. If PEMF isn't the right tool for your problem, we'll say so and point you to what is. Frequently asked questions

The questions readers most often type into search around this topic.

How much does PEMF therapy cost in Manila?
A standalone PEMF session at a Metro Manila clinic typically runs about ₱2,000 to ₱5,000, while general physiotherapy is around ₱500 to ₱2,500. At Hummingbirds for Homme, PEMF isn't a separate fee — it's delivered with radial shockwave as one pain session at ₱2,500 per area, usually across 3 to 6 sessions. Compare per-session prices with the same inclusions.
Is PEMF covered by PhilHealth or HMO?
PhilHealth does not cover PEMF or shockwave for musculoskeletal pain, and HMO coverage varies by plan — many treat it as an elective outpatient service. Most patients pay out of pocket. Confirm with your HMO before booking, and ask the clinic what a full course is likely to total.
Are home PEMF mats worth buying?
Consumer PEMF mats sell for roughly ₱3,000 to ₱30,000, and medical-grade home systems can run ₱80,000 or more. Low-power mats deliver much weaker fields than clinical systems and are marketed with claims the evidence doesn't support. For many problems, a targeted course plus a rehabilitation plan is better value than a device — so it's worth a proper assessment before you buy.
Why does PEMF cost more at some clinics than others?
Price depends on the device (a low-field mat versus a clinical pulsed system), whether a clinician assesses you and builds a plan, how many body areas are treated, and how many sessions a course needs. A ₱1,000 device-only session and a ₱2,500 session that includes assessment and a combined protocol are different products, even when both are labelled "PEMF."
How many PEMF sessions will I need?
PEMF works gradually rather than in one dramatic session, so it's used across a course — typically 3 to 6 sessions, often alongside radial shockwave and a strengthening program. We reassess at around session three; if there's no meaningful change, we rethink the plan rather than keep charging for sessions.
